Another fake dating book! Yay! Abel is an NFL player. He has a bad reputation according to the media. Scarlett is his neighbor…and his personal chef. Scarlett’s friend, and the coach’s daughter, tells Abel that he needs to find himself a girlfriend to fix his image, but he doesn’t want one. Well, he does, but the girl he wants does not want him. Scarlett and Abel’s first meeting did not go well, and he was so flustered by her that he was a jerk, by accident, and she has spent the last eight months hating him, while he tries to avoid her. On the day she plans to give her notice, Abel asks her to be his fake girlfriend and says that he will give her his house if she agrees. Due to her feeling like that was the only way to stay close to her best friend, who is definitley her sister due to the way they grew up, she agrees. It’s a little awkward at first, but they become friends. Shortly after they start dating for real, she goes to LA to visit him while he is shooting a commercial. There is of course some drama that ends up happening, because how could there not be any? Scarlett learns that Abel has a secret, and when she asks him about it, he says he can’t tell her yet, but as soon as he can, she will be the first person to know. When she gets back, there is a story posted in the media that makes her break things off with Abel, and now he has to figure out how to get her back, if that is even a possibility at this point.
This book is everything. Due to my current obsession with dark romances, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it if I read it right now, but holy hell, I LOVED it. It is absolutely adorable, it made my heart so happy, and it is a book I would recommend to anyone. I really like how, even though their relationship had started out rocky, they both went in with a- kind of- open mind, and how it developed. I can’t wait to read more from Meg Reading and I am very excited to read the next two books in the series!
